Zane's Hideout

Zane's Hideout is a rusty old warehouse, serving as the hideout for Zane and his ruffians. It is located to the northwest of the Oasis, connecting to the road.

Story[]

Years ago, Zane inherited the plot of land that his hideout is built on. However, due to a lack of money, the building fell into disarray. Even so, he refused to sell his land to Victor Solis.

Victor tasks the player and Suzie with infiltrating his hideout. Outside, there is a guard who will only allow the player to enter if they say the password "Zerzura." Inside the hideout, Zane is standing on a central platform, but a series of obstacles blocks this platform from being directly accessed. Instead, the player must head to the right wall and climb a sheet of metal to reach a balcony that circles the walls. Along the path, there are ruffians who battle the player, some of which have battled the player before.

Upon reaching Zane, he tells the player and Suzie that he knows Victor sent them both. Then, he claims that the land they stand on is the last remnant of his ancestors, and that he will not let Oasis Energy have it. Then, he battles the player.

After defeating him, Suzie asks him for his key, but he says that he doesn't have it. He explains that his father was a key guardian, but Victor stole the key from him before he was able to pass it onto Zane. Victor Solis plans to sell both Oasis Energy and the Life Key to DoodleCo. Then, Victor arrives to gloat, explaining that according to the city's codex, he has the right to demolish the hideout. Zane calls Victor a monster, saying that his father trusted him. Victor blames it on Zane's father for being royalty, and Zane explains to the player and Suzie that years ago, his ancestors were prominent nobles in the Doodle War, and the Ruined Castle on Route 7 belonged to them. Life only flourished there because of the Mythical Doodle known as Zerzura, but Oasis Energy stole Zerzura and moved it to The Oasis, allowing the city to grow and the castle to slowly decay. Victor claims that DoodleCo has no idea about Zerzura, and when he sells his company, he and Zerzura can move anywhere and start again. Not only that, but without Zerzura sustaining the city, the city's conditions will worsen, and people will blame DoodleCo, hence he will be able to buy the land back cheaply. Then, he leaves, saying that the bulldozers will arrive soon to destroy the hideout.

Suzie suggests that in order to inform DoodleCo of Zerzura, they have to free it. She says that there is a sewer system that can take them to the lab where Zerzura is being held at, and when the player is ready, they can meet her there.

Later on in the story, once Zerzura is finally freed, the player, alongside Suzie and Quincy, return to Zane’s Hideout to use the back entrance and get to Route 8 before hiking to Icyridge to protect Anna from the rogue ShadowClan members and to obtain the Frigid Key.
