The word "Spira" like it was in the old trivia comes from the Latin "Spīr"/"Spīrae" which means twist or coil. And the word "spire" comes from the old english "spir" which means "a sprout or shoot of a plant, spike, blade, tapering stalk of grass". So it either comes from the Latin "Spīr" or from the OE "Spir". As for "Ryu" it doesn't mean "evil" in Japanese, it means "dragon" or "tiger". Tge word for evil in Japanese is "Aku no".
