Story

Route 6 & DoodleCo Academy

Erika is first met at the start of Route 6, the player first sees her having an argument with Quincy, with TJ and Suzie in the background. She is unwilling to tell Quincy where the 3rd key is located, even after he threatens her. She pushes past Quincy and goes towards the player, asking them what they think of DoodleCo in a yes/no question format. Regardless of what the player picks, she will remark how she thinks the player is different from Quincy and will tell the player about who has the 3rd key to meet her after her school club meeting. She also adds that her school club is the only reason she still goes to DoodleCo Academy. Then she proceeds to head back to the academy.

While talking to the Student Council president with TJ for the first time, an earthquake happens. Shortly after, Erika enters the room and asks the player and TJ to meet her and Quincy in the cafeteria. There, Erika explains that while she was doing research on a Doodle called Qilintel who has a vault full of riches at the Arid Mines just next to the academy, she saw the offering room was ransacked. She says that they need to inform Teneson immediately, so they split up and look for him.

After running into Zavier and talking to Teneson, the player meets Erika back at the academy's Help Center. The player informs the group about the Zavier encounter, and Erika tells them that they must head to the Student Council president to get permission to enter Arid Mines to stop Zavier. In the Student Council room, the Student Council President gives the player permission to enter Arid Mines. Then, she tells the player to be careful and look out for their friends, even though the president comments on how Erika is "very capable," especially her Mawthra.

Arid Mines

The player meets Erika at a fork, in a lower section of the mines. She will lead the player to the left, and will show them the entrance to Qilintel's vault, where TJ and Quincy are standing. She says that in order for it to be opened, four vases have to be placed on certain pedestals. Erika theorizes that they were most likely moved by the local Potunk who are incapable of climbing ladders, so they should all be on the same floor.

After the pedestals are placed in the right spot, Erika will warn the player to bring Capsules, as Zavier may have left something behind in the vault. When the player is ready, the vault opens, and the player must catch or defeat the Ostigon within. This Ostigon will not respawn if it is knocked out. Afterwards, TJ, Quincy, Erika, and the player will start to sift through the treasure, looking for clues on what to do about Zavier. Erika explains how Zavier is an incredibly dangerous opponent if he has the Elder's Chronos, as he is able to rewind situations with unfavorable outcomes. She tells the story of how the Elder was a mysterious figure who managed the ten original Key Guardians that fought in a war long ago. After the war, the Keys were used to seal something unknown, and the Key Guardians were told to pass the keys down through the generations. Suddenly, a lightning bolt blasts the gold nearby, barely missing the group. It is revealed that this was done by Zavier and his Chronos.

Zavier is pleased, saying that the group is cornered, and there's no Portia or Mister Riffraff to teleport them away. Then, he reveals that Erika is actually the third Key Guardian. She apologizes to the group, saying that she was going to tell them eventually. Zavier comments on how Erika made the exact same mistake the last time he experienced this scenario, and what happened to her wasn't pretty, confirming that he has been rewinding certain situations. However, Zavier notices TJ standing nearby, and suddenly is thrown into a panic, claiming that after all the times he has rewound events, TJ has never appeared once.

Zavier deduces that TJ is from another timeline, but TJ is extremely confused, claiming that he's just a perfectly normal guy from Lakewood Town, who was born to two perfectly normal parents. Zavier disregards this and tries to eliminate TJ with Chronos. However, it doesn't want to follow orders, as it apparently doesn't care about TJ, since he's not from the same timeline. Additionally, it has "strict rules" to follow which were given by the Elder, and killing TJ would be "a violation of these rules." Frustrated, Zavier steps forward, saying that he's still just as strong with his remaining five Doodles. However, the player steps forward to challenge him, and the two begin battle.

Upon defeating Zavier, he and Chronos leave, claiming that they'll be back for more keys. Then, Erika lets the player battle her for the third Key, as TJ and Quincy offer away their chance. Before the battle, Quincy allows the player to heal their Doodles for free, simply by talking to him. Then, the player can talk to Erika, who claims she doesn't really want her Key anymore, as it's "a headache” for her. Then, the battle begins.

Academy Wrap Up

Once Erika is defeated, she asks the group to meet her back at the academy's Help Center. There, Suzie, after leaving the libary due to studying for where the next key could be, explains to the group that the 4th key may be located at the Oasis. Upon being asked to join the group, Erika declines as she says that she needs to focus on her studies. She later tells them that she might join their key hunt once her school break begins.
