Doodle Skins are a kind of Doodle Cosmetic which can be freely equipped and unequipped across different Doodles of the same evolutionary line. Doodles with skins obtained using a Roulette Ticket cannot have their skins swapped without using a Doodle Unlocker.
Mechanics
Encounter Rate
Typical skins have a 1/1000 (0.1%) chance of appearing when encountering a Doodle in the wild. Vintage skins start at a lower rate, 1/2500 (0.04%). Every week, a different Vintage Skin will be boosted for a base encounter rate of 1/500 (0.2%).
The encounter rate can be increased with chaining to achieve a maximum encounter rate of 1/100 (1%) or 4/100 (4%) if you have completed all of the tasks for that Doodle's entire evolutionary line.
Disabling Skins
Players can disable skins by clicking on them in the Doodlepedia. This causes the skin to appear pure black and prevents players from encountering those skins. Skins can be reenabled by clicking on them again.
The number of skins that can be disabled varies from doodle to doodle - the number is listed on the bottom of the Doodlepedia page. Prestige skins cannot be disabled.
Types of Skins
The Doodlepedia divides Skins into three different categories, each with their own subcategories.
Skins
The first category contains a Doodle's three newest huntable skins, the prestige and scribbled skins, premium skins, and content creator skins.
Huntable Skins
Huntable skins are found randomly in wild encounters, won in the Roulette, and purchased in the The Market. As of version 0.9.39, older huntable skins have been moved to the Vintage Skin category.
Prestige Skins
All Doodles have a "Prestige" skin that makes them look like a golden statue (blue crystal for Misprints and white crystal for Uniques). Prestige skins can be encountered in the wild or the Roulette, but first need to be unlocked by completing all of the tasks for that Doodle's complete evolutionary line.
For example, completing the tasks of only Louis will allow you to find Louis Prestige skins, as Louis is the only of its evolution line. However, completing the task of only Bunsweet and not Bunswirl will not allow you to find Bunsweet or Bunswirl Prestige skins, because you need to have completed both. You can find Prestige skins in the Roulette, so long as tasks are complete for the entire line, the odds for these skins are 1/100.
Scribbled Skins
All Doodles have a "Scribbled" skin that makes them appear like a rough drawing. These can be encountered in the wild or the Roulette. You do not need to unlock them and they are not moved to the Vintage Skin category as new skins are added.
Premium Skins
Premium skins can only be encountered by spinning the Roulette or purchasing them in The Market. You do not need to unlock them and they are not moved to the Vintage Skin category as new skins are added.
Event Skins
The second category consists of skins with special encounter conditions. Most of the skins in this category are limited time only and can only be obtained during Events. Most of the time, event skins are obtained by completing missions instead of encountering wild doodles. You can find all event skins here.
Trick-or-Treat Only
These are a type of event skin from the 2022 Halloween Event. They are given a different label because they can only be found by trick-or-treating, while other skins in the event could also be purchased in the event shop.
Battlepass Skins
Battlepass skins can only be obtained by reaching certain tiers of a Battlepass. Therefore, without trading, players are limited to one of each skin per account. Some battlepass skins require players to have purchased the premium battlepass.
Battlepass skins are deposited directly into the player's Skin Case and do not come with the doodle.
Gift Skins
Gift skins can only be obtained by redeeming the golden colored gifts in the Daily Login Reward. Each golden gift has an unknown chance to give the player an exclusive skin (List here). The player is guaranteed a gift skin for every 40 golden gifts they open.
Exotic Skins
Exotic skins can be found on wild Doodles for a limited time. They have a fixed encounter rate which cannot be boosted by chaining. Exotic skins are usually created for smaller holidays such as Valentine's Day or St. Patrick's Day.
Vintage Skins
Starting in version 0.9.39, most of a Doodle's older huntable skins have been reclassified as Vintage Skins. These skins can still be found in wild encounters, but have a lower chance of appearing compared to normal skin, except for the weekly boosted skin, which has a higher rate.
Vintage Skins can also be bought from the Doodlepedia for 4000 Gems each. However, some vintage skins cannot be bought. Players can only buy a 5 times encounter boost for 4000 Gems. (For Legendaries, 8000 Gems each.)
